Providing pay-as-demand facilities, cloud systems enable hosting persistent services, and thanks to the scalability, dynamicity, and distributed features, cloud computing is improving as an essential technology in transforming into digitally connected systems. However, increasing demands for various applications and services through the cloud contribute to inequality in resource allocation and imbalanced workload distribution. This paper proposes a new approach to cope with load-balancing issues in cloud computing environments, using the Chaotic-based Black Widow Optimization (CBWO) method. CloudSim is adopted as our simulation tool. The experimental results prove the superiority of the proposed approach in terms of makespan (67.28% average improvement), imbalance degree, and task completion time. © 2024 IEEE.Resource allocationScheduling algorithmCloud computingCBWO: a novel load balancing technique for cloud computing systemsCBWO: bulut bilişim sistemleri için özgün bir yük dengeleme tekniğiConference proceeding1297894700180N/A40029
