We report a simple strategy to synthesize aqueous CdS quantum dots (QDs) with a thermosensitive coating. These QDs exhibit pH dependent LCST and therefore particle properties are sensitive to pH and temperature. Such particles are invaluable for sensing, labeling and imaging
