Abstract
We present a solution to the challenge of securely issuing both paper-based and mobile phone-based passports without requiring specialized production techniques. Our solution offers improved security, privacy, and usability compared to the ePassport mechanism currently used worldwide. We also describe how our solution can be extended to support offline verification and present the test results of our proof-of-concept implementation. © 2025 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
