Abstract
Elections have a long and turbulent history in Turkey. This article provides a short historical summary and constitutional base of the election system in the country. Following the main characteristics and the working of the election system, a brief evaluation of the most recent amendments to the election system is provided. The article concludes with an evaluation of the issues on the agenda for electoral system reform in Turkey.
