Abstract
It gives us great pleasure to present this virtual special issue in honor of Professor George Stephanopoulos' distinguished career and outstanding contributions to Process Systems Engineering over the last five decades. In this foreword, we provide a brief overview of George's varied contributions to the different areas of PSE that helped shape its direction and continue to resonate today.
George's research has made breakthrough contributions to virtually every area of PSE.
