| dc.description.abstract | We found the article by Tamahara and Kouketsu (Radiat Environ Biophys 2025. h t t p s : / / d o i . o r g / 1 0 . 1 0 0 7 / s 0 0 4 1 1 - 0 2 5 - 0 1 1 8 0 - w) interesting because it examined the direct p h y s i c o c h e m i c a l effects of therapeutic irradiation on human dental hard tissues as a possible non-salivary cause of radiation-related caries (RRC). The authors investigate a clinically significant and mechanistically fascinating question, utilizing a controlled in vitro approach to analyze radiation-induced modifica-tions in enamel and dentin. The research provides comprehensive information on microhardness, calcium release, collagen autofluorescence, and localized pH variations following irradiation. Nonetheless, specific methodological and interpreta-tion concerns significantly impact the robustness and breadth of the authors' conclusions, necessitating further scrutiny. | |
