| dc.description.abstract | The authors regret that Fig. 3G-I showing the XPS spectra of PdAg/rGO electrocatalysts in the above article have been published erroneously. It was determined that the error occurred during the XPS analysis of the sample and concerned the construction of the XPS spectra without eliminating the charging effect that is the accumulation of positive charge on the surface of samples due to the emission of electrons effecting the XPS spectrum by creating a shift in the binding energies and peak distortion [1]. In this regard, the XPS spectra presented in the original article showed a significant shift to the higher binding energies, and thus they should be replaced with the corrected ones that were constructed by eliminating the charging effect given below. Additionally, since the reported binding energies in the original article were changed, the discussion made on the XPS spectra should be revised as follows. “Two main peaks were observable for the Pd3d core-level at binding energies of 335.5 and 340.7 eV and for the Ag3d core level at binding energies of 367.9 and 373.9 eV (Fig. 3H and I), revealing that both metals were in the zerovalent states [2]. However, there was a shift in the binding energy of Pd3d core level to the higher energy and in the binding energy of Ag3d core-level to the lower energy compared to the reference ones [2], indicating electron transfer between the metals and thus alloy formation between Ag and Pd metals”. However, the authors confirm that these changes do not invalidate the conclusions drawn from the XPS spectra and do not affect the originality and importance of the scientific findings reported in the original article. The correct Fig. 3G-I follows. The authors would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused. | |
