Abstract

We propose a new architecture for managed peer-to-peer (P2P) assisted video services using software defined networks (SDN), WebRTC data channel and cloud computing technologies. In the proposed architecture, the video service provider (VSP) is configured as a cloud content-distribution network (CDN) service. The network service provider (NSP) employs SDN, consisting of a controller cloud, a backbone network, and multiple edge network clouds. The proposed managed P2P-assisted video service avoids unauthorized usage of P2P services while reducing the load on VSP content distribution network (CDN) servers and providing better quality of experience (QoE) to end-users.
