Abstract

International Workshop on Hybrid Systems Modeling, Simulation and Optimization was held Istanbul, Turkey, from May 14 16, 2008 is presented. Hybrid systems are complex systems that exhibit discrete event as well as continuous time dynamics governed by differential and difference equation. Many systems in engineering and science can be considered as hybrid systems, including continuous systems with phased operation, and controlled by discrete logic and switches. A fast regularization technique using sliding modes allows the regularization of system behavior to prevent numerical chattering, which is fast oscillations between operating modes. A study describes the design of the reference governor for constrained piecewise affine systems by using polyhedral invariant sets, multiparametric programming and dynamic programming techniques.
