dc.description.abstractThis chapter describes the geographic, demographic, socioeconomic, and cultural contexts of Turkey. It explores the main findings from research with Turkish samples on the work-family interface is presented. The chapter outlines the results of focus group discussions with 12 Turkish women, and focuses on general work-family research is reached in light of this literature review and focus group discussion. It introduces the Turkish context and reviews the relevant literature in light of the contextual characteristics and to support some of the themes in the literature with focus group discussions. Among the antecedents of the work-family interface, demographic variables, personality, social support, and work-related factors, and organizational commitment have been used in the studies conducted with Turkish samples. Work-family conflict and negative work-family spillover are the main constructs that connote negative consequences of having multiple roles in work and family.
