Abstract

Strain-rate sensitivity (SRS) of high-Mn austenitic steels at the micrometric scale was investigated. Compressive-deformation response of TWIP steel micropillars demonstrated negative SRS between 1x10(-4)and 1 s(-1)strain rates, which was terminated by the formation of nanotwins that significantly enhance the work-hardening capacity at 1 s(-1).
