Plane symmetric solutions of gravitational field equations in five dimensions
(Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK), 2006) Aliev, A.N.; Cebeci, H.; Department of Physics; Dereli, Tekin; Faculty Member; Department of Physics; College of Sciences; 201358
We present the effective field equations obtained from a generalized gravity action with Euler-Poincaré term and a cosmological constant in a D dimensional bulk space-time. A class of plane-symmetric solutions that describe a 3-brane world embedded in a D = 5 dimensional bulk space-time are given.

    Newton-Cartan connections with Torsion
(Springer, 2004) Koçak, Şahin; Limoncu, Murat; Department of Physics; Dereli, Tekin; Faculty Member; Department of Physics; College of Sciences; 201358
We re-formulate the notion of a Newton-Cartan manifold and clarify the compatibility conditions of a connection with torsion with the Newton-Cartan structure.

    Linear connections on light-like manifolds
(Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK), 2008) Koçak, Ş.; Limoncu, M.; Department of Physics; Dereli, Tekin; Faculty Member; Department of Physics; College of Sciences; 201358
It is well-known that a torsion-free linear connection on a light-like manifold (M, g) compatible with the degenerate metric g exists if and only if Rad(TM) is a Killing distribution. In case of existence, there is an infinitude of connections with none distinguished. We propose a method to single out connections with the help of a special set of 1-forms by the condition that the 1-forms become parallel with respect to this connection. Such sets of 1-forms could be regarded as an additional structure imposed upon the light-like manifold. We consider also connections with torsion and with non-metricity on light-like manifolds.

Variational field equations of a Majorana neutrino coupled to Einstein's theory of general relativity
(TÜBİTAK, 2022) Şenikoğlu, Yorgo; Department of Physics; Dereli, Tekin; Faculty Member; Department of Physics; College of Sciences; 201358
A consistent variational derivation of the Majorana 4-spinor field equations coupled to Einstein's theory of gravitation is given. The equivalence of the first and the second order variational field equations is explicitly demonstrated. The Lagrange multiplier 2-forms we use turn out to be precisely the Belinfante-Rosenfeld 2-forms that are needed to symmetrize the canonical energy-momentum tensor of the Majorana spinor.

A nonminimally coupled, conformally extended Einstein-Maxwell theory of pp-waves
(TÜBİTAK, 2020) Department of Physics; Dereli, Tekin; Şenikoğlu, Yorgo; Researcher; Department of Physics; Graduate School of Sciences and Engineering; College of Sciences; 201358; N/A
A nonminimal coupling of Weyl curvatures to electromagnetic fields is considered in Brans-Dicke-Maxwell theory. The gravitational field equations are formulated in a Riemannian spacetime where the spacetime torsion is constrained to zero by the method of Lagrange multipliers in the language of exterior differential forms. The significance and ramifications of nonminimal couplings to gravity are examined in a pp-wave spacetime.
