    First demonstration of laser operation in Tm3+:BaY2F8 near 2.3 μm

    We report, for the first time to our knowledge, continuous-wave operation of a Tm3+:BaY2F8 laser near 2.3 µm for two orthogonal pumping orientations, resulting in a broad 152-nm tuning range from 2233 to 2385 nm.

    We report a 2.3-μm Tm3+:KY3F10 laser, which can be excited via upconversion pumping with a 1064-nm ytterbium fiber laser, leading to tunable operation from 2268 to 2373 nm with absorbed power slope efficiency of 32%.
