dc.description.abstractWe describe the preparation and spectroscopic characterization of diffusion-doped Fe2+:ZnSe and Cr2+:ZnSe. Diffusion coefficients were determined at 1000 0C. In gain-switched operation, 80-mJ, 1-kHz pulses were produced with Cr2+:ZnSe samples near 2600 nm.
