Abstract
Photoelectrochemical (PEC) water splitting using oxide-based heterostructures is a promising approach for sustainable hydrogen production. In this study, we report on WO3/ZrO2 bilayer thin films fabricated by pulsed laser deposition (PLD) and their PEC performance. The optimized bilayer (WO3 540 nm/ZrO2 44 nm) achieved a photocurrent density of 0.12 mA/cm2 at 1.4 V under simulated sunlight, demonstrating the promise of oxide-based heterostructures for robust and efficient PEC hydrogen generation.
