Abstract

Adherence is a significant issue in the treatment of mental disorders. Various approaches are used by psychiatric nurses in order to increase adherence among patients with mental disorders. One such method is Adherence Therapy, an individually-applied, patient-centred, cooperative cognitive behavioural approach. This programme is applied to both inpatients and outpatients with non-adherence. Adherence therapy may serve as a guide in aiding interventions of psychiatric nurses in Turkey. The purpose of this review is to explain the feature and intervention method, one approach for increasing adherence among patients with mental disorders.
