Abstract

This volume is dedicated to İbrahim Metin Kunt, who made major contributions to studies on the Ottoman world of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries throughout his four decades of research. His academic work covers the institutional changes that took the Ottoman Empire from the classical age to the era of decentralization. Considering Kunt’s groundbreaking explorations into the processes of transformation, this book aims to explore the various aspects of transformation within the empire through essays that examine historical changes throughout Ottoman history, from the classical era to the age of modernizing reforms.
